Evan Bayh, preparing to position himself as the best alternative to Hillary Clinton, defended his position, saying, "As the people get to know me, I think we'll do very well ... Is this a little bit like David and Goliath? A little bit, but as I recall, David did OK." Bayh would later drop out after it appeared that Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) would run. Obama has yet to announce as of 12/28/06.
