Background

This will be the first election in 56 years in which no sitting President or Vice-President is running. This will make for a very interesting race. Due to the large numbers of candidates in all the parties who will probably run, it is nearly impossible to predict an outcome yet. However, this blog will track the candidates all the way until election day 2008.

I'd hate to see the Democrats blow their political advantage by losing to McCain. They need somebody better than Clinton.

I agree with this comment. The problem is that given how front-end loaded the initial primaries are, it's extremely likely that Clinton will get the nomination. Therefore we must hope that the Republican Party splits over McCain. If that should happen, it would be reminiscent of the 1912 election where Rossevelt came back to run against his successor Taft, and Wilson won.
